Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists help people of all ages and abilities overcome the challenges of everyday life, known,as ‘occupations’. Their goal is to help keep you comfortable and living your best life during daily tasks like cooking, driving or managing your stairs, while helping you maintain your health and independence.

Occupational therapists help you regain control of your health and well-being by helping enhance the abilities of DVA members and NDIS participants whose illness, injury or disability is preventing them from performing certain regular tasks in their lives, or is leaving them struggling to perform them. This means that working with an occupational therapist not only helps ease daily life and increase comfort, but also means you benefit from the mental, emotional and social benefits that arise when you are able to maintain your independence, get involved in the community, and participate in social activities.

Proactive’s occupational therapy team works with you by evaluating your unique circumstances, needs and goals, all relative to your environment, and then forming a management plan to help you meet your goals. Our occupational therapists are well supported and love their roles, partaking in regular professional development and being equipped with the right tools and technology to achieve the best outcomes for you. Proactive prioritises taking care of their staff, so they can provide the best care for you.

What Your Occupational Therapist Can Help With:

These could include things like home and vehicle modifications, including kitchen or bathroom modifications, physical therapy to improve fine motor skills, fall prevention, and how to navigate stairs to name a few.

What an OT really helps their clients with is freedom, the freedom to live their life to the best of their ability, with the right support and the right access.
